Booking crew
Booking a person onto a shoot or project is an assignment — a person, in a role, with a status. It's how a producer builds the team for a production.
What an assignment is
An assignment links one person to one shoot or project. It records their role on the work and where their booking stands. You track a shoot's bookings on its team, a project's on its team, and every assignment across the studio in one place.
Roles and statuses
A role says what the person does — Photographer, Stylist, Model. A status says where the booking stands: invited (asked, no reply), confirmed (accepted), declined (turned down), or cancelled (called off).
Invitations
Invitations are deliberate — ShootHive never emails crew automatically when you book them. You send the invitation yourself when the booking is firm, and re-send it as many times as needed.
Crew can switch shoot emails off, and crew without a login aren't emailed at all — you book them in the app and reach them your usual way.
Internal staff vs external crew
External crew are booked per shoot at a rate. Salaried staff are different: their pay is handled once at the studio level, so their booking shows as salary-covered instead of a rate.
A crew member's rate lives on the budget line their booking creates, not on the booking itself — so changing a rate is a budget edit.
